Poker Software Battle Heats Up

This has already affected the rating of many Full Tilt Poker players. I notice they did not put my recent Midnight Madness final table appearance in my stats, even though it does show at OfficialPokerRankings.

I am not entirely sure what is the difference between the two sites as to why one is allowed to extract the data, and another is not.

in reference to:

"Also stated by Sharkscope admin on the blog "the lower stakes coverage has been extremely poor recently. We are continuing to work on the problem and are still optimistic about restoring full coverage; but this may take some time." This would apparently be without the blessing of Full Tilt if it ever gets restored."

Turtleknife teaching Poker Tournament Strategy

This shows every stage of a major hand I played in Full Tilt's Midnight madness Poker Tournament last night. Watch how the profiling data I have on my opponent helps me win a massive pot.

Midnight Madness Poker Tournament.

I play this tournament often and cash often too, but have only final tables it like 3 or 4 times. If not for the last hand bad beat, I think I take the whole thing down.

The payout was extra special because of the 3700+ entires and double guarantees week.

Lord of Poker, scum of the internet.

This software is not only beyond useless, it will make you LOSE more money because of certain outdated features. It was actually called something else a couple years ago before it went out of business and re-emerges as this.

Fake reviews and spammy social marketing are just some of the reasons to avoid dealing with such malicious vendors. Read my full Poker Software review on this shitty product here: http://goo.gl/dS1WZ

Vanessa Selbst on High Stakes Poker

Vanessa Selbst and Norm McDonald both debuted on GSN`s High Stakes Poker, one as host, the other trying to make her mark as an aggressive, competitive player. Unfortunately, in this hand, despite some of the most obvious live poker tells ever from Phil Ruffin, she let that image get carried away, and was stacked to the tune of $200,000 in the early going.

Is JCPenny Dumb or Dumber?

So JCPenny is denying any knowledge of what was going on because their firm was supposedly responsible for the Black Hat SEO tactics. To me that either makes you Dumb for knowing about it and letting it happen, or even Dumber for denying knowing about it, while your search results were obviously skyrocketing during the Holidays.

You would think someone at JCPenny would say, hey, why the heck are we selling out of carpets nationwide?

I think I would rather be accused of a being a Black-hatter and then acknowledging the error, rather than being part of a management team that has no idea what is going on with their sales numbers and why.

Stop and Go Poker Strategy

I like Jon's point here about opponent calling preflop, but I am not so sue about good players calling as top and play if they completely miss. It is still a difficult decision.

here is my take on it:

Glad you were able to use the information I provided you for this article Steve. Clearly though with your experience with Poker Edge, did you really have to ask?

The iPad and Online Poker

This would have been a great tool for online poker, but only in the casual sense. Playing a game while, basically doing something else.

There are however some real limitations to this being a possibility including hardware, internet connections, the iPad OS, and of course the lack of multi-tasking.

Oh well. Just have to get that Mac-Book I have been thinking about.

Magic Hold'em Malarkey

I now see these guys making claims of selling more than 200,000 units in their first year of operations, which would be nearly 300% of the entire market share for that period.

These claims are for a product that brought nothing new for the user, and in fact is based on out-dated screen-scraping technology. The only people buying that type of software are severely uninformed and a sliver of the market share.

Products like Magic Hold'em feel they need to exaggerate their claims to make up for what is clearly an inferior poker calculator. It further cements the designers/marketers reputation as snake-oil salespeople.

Please read my full review of Magic Holdem at PokerCalculatorReport.com and see some much better products that you can use to really improve your game. We use a 4 ACES rating system and all product are used by the reviewer.

An exciting new cash game structure at full Tilt Poker allows for playing way more hands per hour because of some intense programming that allows you to be moved from table to table as soon as you fold your hand. See the full review at

Poker Calculator Crutch? Joking right?

This is just nonsense from a stubborn player that probably loses money online. How long have you been using a math calculator in your life? When you need to do some quick calculations do you run for a pencil and paper or a calculator? If you are under 40 you probably used a calculator in your entire education starting from the point where you knew your times tables, right?

Does using a math calculator mean you do not know your times tables? I think not. It sure does speed things up though, serving up accurate information the instant you need it.

See my full response to Poker Calculator Crutch here.

"What I don't understand is why you would stay with the hand when you clearly didn't have the pot odds to do so?You tried to "represent" a ten (i.e., bluff) and it winds up biting you on the ass.Surely, you know that pot odds has to do with risk-reward, no?Yes, I'm all for a bit of bluffing, but this clearly was the time to attempt it -- especially with that backdoor flush on the board."

Poker odds are CRITICAL

You can not underestimate the power of knowing odds in poker. Contrary to your statement, odds are a critical part of long term winning.

You are speaking of what pros who don't take odds into account? There aren't any because they wouldn't be pros if the didn't. Yes, profiling and other important factors come into play, but they only serve to define the odds of a given poker situation even more. Show me a professional poker player who doesn't know his odds, and I will show you fraud.

Learn poker odds and how to use them using my poker math lessons. It is the fundamental, underlying factor in ALL poker decisions.
